Saint George’s Day (გიორგობა)

November 23rd is St George’s Day in Georgia. It’s apparently not the only feast to Saint George — there’s also May 26th, and other times, locally. The calendar says ” The majority of Georgian churches (in villages especially) were built in his honor and, as a result, every day there is a feast of the great-martyr George somewhere in Georgia. The various daily commemorations are connected to one of the churches erected in his name or an icon or a particular miracle he performed.” Tomorrow, however, is a major celebration in honor of St George, and a national/school holiday in Georgia.
