Training Notes: Day 2

Today we had Georgian class, a medical exam, intercultural class, and went for another walk into town. In Georgian class we learned eight or so letters, the conjugation of “I am,” common greetings, and a few other common phrases. The teacher was likable and engaging, but the difficulty was that the class went much faster than my mind can process, so by the end of two hours I couldn’t remember anything other than “gamarjobat!” (hello). In Intercultural studies N  once again used “interactive teaching methods” endorsed by colleges of education, including an ice breaker to introduce a discussion on stereotypes where we had to write the name of the place we were from on a piece of paper, tape it to our backs, and write stereotypes we have heard about that place on our classmates. She then talked about that, and later we had to try with intonation and word choice give a certain affect or connotation to a phrase we were given, and see if our classmates could guess what we were saying. That was the introductory activity for her section on communication styles. She also talked about individualism vs collectivism and time & uncertainty. She said that she got this from someone, but I forgot who; as far as I can tell from the internet it was probably Geert Hofstede.

At this point I accuse myself of being dull, and wonder what you would like to hear about. I have a few things that I would be comfortable writing about, including a review of the intercultural studies class and of the summary of the cultural dimension theory, but am inclined to think that such a review would be superfluous; self-indulgant. So then I wonder: “what would be interesting to read about?” and am not sure.
