Philosophy of Number

For the next week or so, until the 13th, I’m going to try to work as much as possible on my preceptorial essay about Greek Mathematical Thought and the Origin of Algebra by Jacob Klein. I’m posting my essay notes here, and I would like it very much if what I’m studying is of some interest, but it’s mostly gnarly, technical, obscure, philosophical stuff, so apologies!

Initial reactions 1 & 2

Part 1: Apollonius proof 1.11

Part 2: What are some of the issues at hand?

Part 3: Quotations and thoughts from Klein’s essay The World of Physics and the “Natural” World

Part 4: An overview of the questions at hand

Part 5: Possibile Determinacy

Part 6: Guiding Question

Part 7:  First and second intentions

Part 8: More on intentionality in science

Finale’: Symbolic Unreality
