Because it reminds me so much of Tuluksak, and is charming besides:

Fresh Running Waters
This is, in part, a response to a comment made by a friend the other day on Tuluksak: Similar to “There’s no Place like Home” there is no place like Tuluksak in the World. Yes I have been all over the World. I am still here in the trenches and yes it continues to be [...]

Tuluksak page update
I’ve updated the Tuluksak page to what will probably be it’s final form, with actual writing involved, and added another page of just pictures.

Flood
Life is a bit surreal right now. I want to leave – and have tickets out of here for Thursday. There’s an ice block down river, and it’s starting to flood. A lot of paths near the river are flooded – the water rose over two days or so, and then just stopped. If it [...]

Graduation
Yesterday afternoon we held a graduation ceremony at the Tuluksak school. Kindergarden, eighth grade, and, of course, seniors participated. It was a nice ceremony, [...]

Slush
Outside it’s finally starting to feel like Spring. Little streams of clear, cold, undrinkable water have etched their way through the ice between myself and school; children walk about in sweatshirts and rubber boots, and there’s a sizable lake that isn’t really a lake forming behind teacher housing. The water has reached my bottom step, [...]

TLT Website
I’m trying to design a simple and easily updated school web page. It’s not amazing, but then there’s about a 50% chance someone will delete it and never use it again in five weeks.

Spring
The Equinox was about two days ago, and, as I mentioned earlier, it’s now sunny until around 9, and full dark shortly before 10. It is not, however, much warmer; still hovering around 0, though rumors say it may get as high as 20 this week. Since there are a couple of feet of solid [...]

My backyard
Well, I don’t have one. But if I did, this is where it would be. The light is shining from the only store in town, known as “the store.”
